Now you can discover the thrill of driving as you get behind a steering wheel for the first time in safe, controlled conditions. An Approved Driving Instructor will show you the rudiments of driving and you’ll gain confidence in open spaces and a relaxed atmosphere. This experience is all about helping young (and not so young!) learners to make the most of that crucial first drive, to learn more, to experience more and to have lots of fun too. The Ferrari F430 is one of the finest sports cars in the world, and driving it is an intense pleasure. It has a 4.3 litre V8 engine producing 483bhp, combined with astonishing road-holding and manoeuvrability. You’ll kick off with a briefing, then your instructor will drive you for three laps in a Mazda 3 MPS to familiarise you with the driving lines of the circuit. Next you’ll swap over to the driving seat for four laps in a Porsche Cayman. Then at last you’ll slip behind the wheel of the all-aluminium F430 for four mind-blowing laps. Be warned, this car is capable of 0-60 mph in under four seconds and has a top speed of almost 200mph; it’s not for the faint-hearted. You’ll finish driving five laps in a Formula Renault single-seater - sitting two inches off the ground, with lightning-quick steering and braking, this little dynamo of a car gives a totally different ride to the Ferrari.

Scuba diving always looks so tempting on holiday, but if you’ve never tried it before then it can seem like going in at the deep end (pun fully intended). Back in rainy Britain it’s very easy to forget why diving seemed so appealing. But learning how to scuba dive is a ticket to a lifetime of underwater adventure and this family experience is a perfect introduction to the sport. You’ll get expert instruction on safety and underwater mobility techniques, then you’ll learn how to breathe underwater and achieve weightlessness while getting used to the equipment. Courses take place in swimming pools under controlled conditions - and while it might seem a long way from diving in a tropical ocean, it’s the perfect way for your family to get a basic grounding in diving and find out whether you like it. It’s also ideal for anyone considering taking a PADI Open Water Diving Course. At the end of the session younger kids (under 10) even get a surprise gift to take home.

The planes that most of us travel in are so big you hardly even know that you’re in the air. Well, things couldn’t be more different flying in a microlight. In fact a trip on one of these nippy, lightweight little flying machines is about as close as you can get to being a bird. It’s an exhilarating experience - and one which needs strong nerves and a real head for heights! You’ll start off with a short briefing from your instructor, before hopping into your microlight. There are two types of microlight: ‘flex wing’, based on the frame of a hang glider; or ‘fixed wing’, which is similar to a conventional light aircraft. They all have dual controls, so you’re in safe hands at all times. You’ll be impressed by the speed and manoeuvrability of these little craft and your instructor will encourage you to have a go at the controls yourself (we don’t reckon you’ll need much encouragement). If you get a taste for it, your flying time can count towards a microlight Private Pilot’s Licence.

Let’s be honest, nobody wants to hit the slopes for the first time looking like a complete novice, even if they are one. So get some practise in before going on holiday with a snowboarding lesson at the UK’s top indoor real snow centre. You’ll start off with a safety briefing and an introduction to the equipment (which is all included). Then you’ll try out some basic moves and find out whether you’re a ‘regular foot’ or ‘goofy foot’ - that is, whether your leading leg is your left or your right. You’ll get to grips with the right stance for balance, and then move on to gaining control of the toe edge and heel edge of the board and going down the slope zigzagging from left to right and back again - the ‘falling leaf’ manoeuvre. Your qualified instructor is on hand throughout, to give you all loads of help and to pick you up if you topple over.

With this experience you’ll have the chance to get up close and personal with this deadly predator, and see their majesty and power first hand. Your experience begins with a guided tour of the bird of prey centre, where you’ll see the various eagles in residence and get the chance to learn all about them. Then you’ll receive expert one-to-one instruction on how to handle a bird, and find out about how they are trained. After lunch, stride out into beautiful British countryside with your instructor, where you’ll fly an eagle to the glove (in Yorkshire get the chance to fly more than one type of eagle). It’s an amazing opportunity to see these dramatic birds up close and watch their spellbinding flight - and there can’t be many thrills to match the experience of an eagle coming in to land on your glove.

Discover your inner cowboys or cowgirls on this great trail ride in the New Forest, England’s answer to the Wild West (more trees, not so many cacti). You’ll be riding a beautiful Western Paint horse, western-style - this style of riding is easier to learn and feels more secure than riding English-style, so it’s great even for beginners. And those cowboys had to spend all day in the saddle, so they made darn sure it was comfortable!
